Hello, I would first like to thank you for taking your time and reading this thread and being a part of this large and wonderful community. It is a pleasure to oversee it and interact with the players.
I would like to cover a very important topic and is dear to most of us at the staff team. It centers around respect to the moderators and the staff. Mainly respect to the moderators. The moderators spend nearly 5 hours per day (and sometimes more) moderating, banning hackers, and answering questions that you have. This is a hard job, I’m sure that some of you might look at it go “Pfft, I can do this! It is way too easy!” It is not actually. Mods stay at their computers night and day, canceling plans to moderate, or even just shutting themselves out from the outside world just so they can keep the server safe. I know of a few that stay up for nearly 14+ hours and actively moderates and plays.
Now, I know some of you might be wondering why you should respect a MOD here. You might dislike them because they banned your best friend, sister, brother, or anyone with any relation to you. Just because you know them, doesn’t mean they don’t hack. You cannot see their screen 95% of the time, so you cannot tell whether they are hacking or not. MODs might have also caused you a, what you think is, unjust punishment such as muting you with no warning. You might want to get revenge on them so you bring hate to that mod and cause drama that they do not want/need and in the end making their reputation worse (or even more worse). We are human, just like you, we make mistakes too.
Lets get real, a mod is given a giant responsibility. Moderating one of the most popular servers in the minecraft community. They influence players and many players look up to them as idols, such as their favorite youtuber(s). Out front, they seem independant a free but on the inside they all follow the same rules and regulations. These regulations extend beyond the universal rules of Hypixel. Mods follow a strict set of guidelines and procedures to complete a, what seems to you, a simple task. Bans, for example, have to follow a set of rules. One of the biggest rules being able to get proof of that player’s offense. Getting proof might be as simple as that, but they have to dig deeper, go beyond the surface. We have to know what hacks, how to spot them, and how long to ban them for. So many things can go wrong, and vice versa. All of the mods, new and veteran, makes a mistake every now and then.
While on the subject of banning, lets talk about reporting players. Reporting another player on the forums for any reason must be backed up with solid evidence. Recording and reporting the player on the forums is the fastest way to get someone banned. A mod is always watching over the report section to make sure that all reports are completed and taken care of to their best extent. Now reporting in game is a different thing entirely. I know a lot of you think you’re the best at the game and no one can kill you. That is entirely false. There might be that one person that is an absolute genius but they die too. It is like “The Little Boy That Cried Wolf” or “The Little Player That Called Hacker”. Another thing is saying/spamming “Hacker” or “recorded hacker, get banned.” It is not only makes the hacker feel good, it makes the job on the mods harder (maybe easier). Last things about reporting in game, do not spam the mods. Nothing makes the mod more irritated is a player spamming “Hacker” and ALWAYS give a name to the mod of the player you suspect is hacking.
I do not want the moderators to be seen as slaves, I want you to see them as your friend. They are like your brother/sister/best friend that you can rely on. Please do not deprive them of fun, freedom, and happiness. They might’ve had a bad day that day and are not in the best of moods. You know never know the mod feels, but it is best to talk to them with a smile and with respect. If you do that, you will get the best side of that mod. Do not force them to help you. That is all I ask.
Now, all of you might be happy to see the new violation monitor out in the public for all of you to see. Being out right, the monitor is only to assist with proof. It only aids in investigation and should never be used as proof on a ban/suspicions of a hacker. Just because you see a player in your game and they are on the monitor does not mean they are a hacker. They could be lagging or are accidentally setting it off. Do not force a mod to watch a player just because they are on the monitor a copious amount of times.
All in all, I just want all of you to know that the mods are people too and they have feelings. They are given this power for a good reason and they do not need hate or disrespect for it. That is all I want all the players to know and understand. Also, do not take this thread as a complaint, take it as me tell you, the player, that the mods are being hated for doing their job.
Thank you, once again for reading this thread, and understanding that the mods are here for a single purpose. To moderate the server, get rid of hackers, and keep the masses in tranquility. Next time you see a mod, or ANY staff, ingame, be sure to tell them thank you for all of their hard work that they do. Most of them go unseen but they do loads of work for myself, and the server.
I want to take time here to thanks all the Jr helper who are working hard, you guys help us more than you think. I want also to thanks the helpers who are always working hard to achieve the rank of moderator. And finally thanks to all the moderators who work so hard on the server and the forum without you we wouldn’t have that wonderful server. I am lucky to work with you guys you are the best.
